March Newsletter

Thank you for supporting us in so many ways before and at our launch events in February. The Pancake Day celebration was very successful: we served many more pancakes than last year, took more money than last year on the raffle  and home-made cake stall, but above all, we felt that those attending appreciated the opportunity to meet socially and catch up with friends, old and new, from the village and beyond. The Friends’ All Saints repair and restoration fund grew by £328.00, too. Similarly, the Gresham Folk and Friends Concert brought together local performers and villagers on a magical candle-lit evening in the church. It was really enjoyed by all, (even the previously sceptical!) and we hope to offer something similar towards the end of the year. Donations and the raffle raised £334.00. Congratulations to Di and Ros, Committee members who masterminded these events.

In March we are launching a series of coffee mornings or tea parties, which we hope other supporters will hold during the rest of the year. Ros’ on March 10th will be the first and mine will follow before the end of the month. I will be inviting friends who live outside the village and will either ask for donations or charge a small price for refreshments. Do let me know if any of you think of doing this as the Friends Committee will support you in any way we can. We now have co-Treasurers with whom I can put you in touch when you need to pay cash into the fund.

Other developments include significant progress being made with the website- great thanks for this goes to an IT expert who has offered his time for free and another who has undertaken to maintain the site once it is finalised. I hope to be able to advise you of a date next month when it will be live. We already have good photos of the February events we expect you will enjoy.

Two dates for future events have been settled: Sunday, May 20th, there will be a Park Party (instead of a Street Party) to celebrate the Royal Wedding, (if anyone has good, realistic! ideas for entertainment please let me know) and Saturday June 23rd for a Vintage Summer Fair and Classic car event with strawberry teas. Further details of both these events will follow.

Thank you again for your continuing support.

Best wishes

Julia D
