Newsletter April 2019
Following the disappointing news about our Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) bid in early March, we received good feedback on the bid itself and were encouraged to reapply. We sent off the preliminary form for this process about 10 days ago and look forward to hearing something from the HLF later this week. The next deadline for bids is 28 May 2019, and we will aim initially to send our bid by then.
Our three events in March were more successful than we could have hoped. The Pancake event had even more takers than last year and the Village Hall was busy from just after 11.00am until we closed at 4.00pm. Thank you all for supporting us- we raised the amazing amount of £455.00. At our Folk and Friends concert at All Saints, a really lovely evening of beautiful and remarkable singing, well read, and at times humorous, poetry, and spell-binding story-telling, we raised over £300 from donations- thank you so much for your generosity and thank you to Committee member Ros Hele, who masterminded the whole evening. Finally another concert, this time featuring Beeston Hall School musicians, saw a packed church enjoy some lovely performances, all the better for the brilliant acoustics our church provides. Again donations raised a remarkable £389.00.
Unfortunately, the Gardening Event scheduled for April 27thhas been cancelled. Please do pass this news to anyone you know who may have been planning to attend. (The Committee did not take the decision until after Quintet went to press, so the information in the magazine is not accurate.) We apologise for any inconvenience and hope to revisit this idea in the future.
There will be a Coffee morning instead on Saturday 27thApril, at Rivendell, Cromer Road, Lower Gresham from 10.30am.
Our Village Picnic will take place at the Park on May 19thfrom 1.00pm. It will be on the same lines as last year, with light refreshments being available from the Pavilion, as well as some games equipment for the energetic! There will be a raffle.
On July 20th we are holding the Classic Car Show and Craft Fair, aiming to top the £1750 we made last year. We have prepared application forms for the Craft Stalls, so anyone wishing to book one should contact me, J Drury on 01263 577794. Single tables (rectangular) will be £10, double £18. A Friends stall will sell any items Made In Gresham; if you could contribute to that stall, please contact me, with details of what you make. We expect to have live music on the Park as well as our raffle, children’s activities and other stalls to visit. If you know anyone who has medical qualifications and could be present that day, please ask them to contact me on the above number.
Dates later in the year include a Sheringham Shanteymen Concert in the church on 26th October in the evening and a concert from Natasha Hood’s choir on 9thNovember. Other events are under consideration. Contributions of tombola/Raffle prizes are always welcome.
Thank you all for your continuing support; I hope to see some of you at our Coffee morning on 27thApril next.
