JUNE Newsletter 2019

The friends of All Saints Gresham Newsletter June 2019

Dear all

Our Picnic day proved to be fine and sunny and we welcomed all generations of Gresham families and their friends to the Park for a lovely get together. Children and adults played Rounders and some table tennis. Others enjoyed a more sedate chat, sitting outside a Pavilion beautifully decorated with May blossom. Tea and cake were consumed in some quantity. A quiz puzzled some… although a tie break was needed to identify a winning team! The raffle raised more money and £150 approximately was taken to the bank for the church building repair fund. But, more importantly, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Next we are having a stall at the School Summer Fayre on June 28th. It will be a bric a brac stall so if you have any items you wish to contribute, please let me know (01263 577794) and I will get them collected.

Preparations are going well for our Classic Car Show and Craft Fair on July 20th. Our Village Hall is now fully booked with craft stalls and we have several also booked for outside on the Park. More could be added outside if you know of anyone interested. Organisations wishing to advertise or educate would also be good: I have given booking forms to the RSPB and the RNLI. We still need items for our “Made in Gresham” stall so any contributions would be very welcome. Offers of help on the day would be good, if only for a couple of hours to relieve, for a short time, those on duty from the outset. We are short of a qualified First Aider for the day; again if you know of anyone who would be available please let me have their contact details.

We open at 11.00am- classic cars will arrive from 10.30. An entry price of £3.00 per adult will be charged to cover the Fair and the Car Show.

Please let me have any raffle prizes you may have before the event if at all possible. We will also have a cake stall so again we would be grateful for donations.

Sorry, this has sounded too much like a begging letter!

Progress is being made on our second Heritage Lottery Fund application; Helen and I are now well into the process and draft sections will soon be available for the PCC to peruse. We are conscious that the expectations have been raised by the new criteria set by the Lottery and more background work is needed. We still are aiming for completion by mid-August.

I hope you are all enjoying the current fine weather.

Best wishes

Julia Drury, Chair, The Friends of All Saints Gresham
