Apologies for the omission of a November update and that this December offering is late! I am sidelined at the moment owing to a health issue, but will be back in circulation from mid January.
Our Autumn concert Programme seemed to suit many different tastes: our Tale Dolce Musica ( Classical Baroque performers) event was enjoyed by a modest audience, some of whom and many more, returned for the Sheringham Shantymen at the end of October. “Songs of Courage and Good Cheer”, led by Natasha Hood, followed in early November, with the varied programme again thoroughly appreciated by the new audience, which nearly filled the church. The sound was greeted enthusiastically after each item, engendering a warm, positive atmosphere, and, although there was no charge, £250 was taken on donations. We are most grateful to Natasha and her choir for their time and efforts, and for choosing to support our church again.
Overall profit on the three concerts amounted to £777.00 Later in November, Friend Julia Harvey hosted a Bring and Buy Jewellery event at her home. Although I was not there, I understand from those who were, that it was very enjoyable, raising another remarkable £282 for our funds.
As I hope you are all aware the Village Christmas Social takes place this afternoon in the Village Hall, 2.30pm-4.00pm, where traditional Christmas food and music will be provided. Some of the local Gresham Village School and Nursery children will visit and there will be plenty of time to catch up with friends and family, so do come along. The event will be free but there will be a Bric a Brac stall and a small tombola, as well as plenty of children’s activities.
Finally, I have some wonderful pre- Christmas news (if you haven’t already heard): the National Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded us the grant we requested to renew the church. This news, however, is not for publication until after the General Election, but I couldn’t keep the bid outcome from you. In different ways, everyone connected to All Saints Church, its PCC, The Friends and the village community has helped make this possible and I can’t thank you all enough for your support.
Happy Christmas to you all
Julia Drury, Chair
